$16 \mathrm{~V}$
$: v=50 \mathrm{~Hz}, V=20 \mathrm{~V}, V_R=12 \mathrm{~V}$
In case of $R C$ circuit, $V=\sqrt{V_R^2+V_C^2}$
$$
\begin{aligned}
& \Rightarrow(20)^2=(12)^2+\left(V_C\right)^2 \\
& \Rightarrow\left(V_C\right)^2=400-144=256 \Rightarrow V_C=16 \mathrm{~V}
\end{aligned}
$$
In case of $R C$ circuit, $V=\sqrt{V_R^2+V_C^2}$
