The correct answer is: 20 °C

Let θ0 = temperature of surrounding,

Using Newton's law of cooling,

log θ2-θ0θ1-θ0=-Kt

log 40-θ050-θ0=-K×5 .....(i)

log 33.33-θ040-θ0 =-K×5 .....(ii)

From Eqs.(i) and (ii),

40-θ050-θ0  = 33.33-θ040-θ0

On solving, we get

θ0=19.95°C 20 °C
