Time taken by the body to reach the point A is t1 (During upward journey).



The body crosses this point again (during the downward journey) after t2, ie, the body takes the time t2-t1 to come again at the point A.

So, the time taken by the body to reach at point B (a maximum height).

t=t1+t2-t12

Time of ascending=Time of descending

t=t1+t22

So, maximum height H=12 gt2

                               =12gt1+t222

                                =2gt1+t242
