A compound that undergoes bromination easily is phenol. Due to presence of $–\text{O}\text{H(+M)}$ group the ring becomes much more active in substitution reactions. The bromination occurs due to availability of electrons on ortho and para position.


In toluene CH₃ group show +HC which is less activating group than -OH & -COOH (-M) ring deactivating group.
