Acylation is used to determine the number of -OH group in the compound.
R - OH R - OCOCH 3
​Acylation of one hydroxyl group results in the increment of -COCH2 (or C2H2O). In the question, there is an increment of (C8H8O4). Hence, there should be four -OH groups.
