up the incline while ascending as well as descending
When cylinder rolls up the incline angular velocity decreases for that torque of friction should be in opposite direction of angular velocity. Therefore friction must be acting up the incline.
When cylinder rollsdown the incline angular velocity increases for that torque of friction should be in same direction of angular velocity. Therefore friction must be acting up the incline.
