The correct answer is: 3970
i=VReff=V1970+30=22000=1×10-3A=mA

This current provides full scale deflection (i.e. 20 division) In order to limit the deflection 10 divisions,

the resistances needed to connect  can be obtained as

θ=niABk   θ1θ2=i1i2

  θ1 :θ2=2

  i1:i2=2:1

  i2=i12=1×10-32=5×10-4mA

  i=VReff+RsRs=Vi-Reff

=25×10-4-2000

=25×104-2000

=4×103-2000

=2000 Ω

  The resistance of 1970 Ω is to be replaced by 1970+2000=3970 Ω
