The correct answer is: 5

Given, C=37.55 J mol-1 K-1

Also, PT= constant K

According to ideal gas equation, PV=RT

   p=RTV      .....i

Putting the value of p in Eq. (i), we get

RTV×T=K      V=RT2K     .....ii

On differentiating above equation both sides, we get

dVdT=2RTK....iii
But TK=1p     fromEq.  i
Hence, Eq. iiibecomes

dVdT=2 Rp
So, C=CV+pdVdT
or C=CV+p×2 Rp=CV+2 R
or CV=C-2 R      ...iv

As CV=nR2, where n= number of degrees of freedom.
Putting the value of CV in Eq. (iv), we get

nR2=C-2 R

n=2 C-2 RR=2 37.55-2×8.38.3=5.0485
