The correct answer is: Doubled
Resistance of full coil = R

Resistance of each half piece = R/2

∴     H 2 H 1 = V 2 t R / 2 × R V 2 t = 2 1

∴      H 2 = 2 H 1

Heat generated will now be doubled.
