It is given that the length of the ladder is: AB=5 m

 

From the geometry,

x2+y2=52

Differentiate the above equation.

2xdydx+2ydydx=0

xdydx+ydydx=0

It is given that,

dxdt=3,dydt=-4

Substitute the values in the equation I.

3 x-4 y=0

325-y2-4y=0

325-y2=4y

Squaring both sides,

925-y2=16y2

By solving,

y=3
