As large number of particles is situated at a distance $R$ from the ongin If particles are uniformly distubuted and make a circulat boundary atound the ongm, then centre of mass will be at the ongin While if the patticles are not uniformly distnbuted, then centre of mass will lie between particle and origin. This implies distance between centre of mass and ongin is always less than equal to $R$.
