The correct answer is: u1-u232 m

The formula of focal length for a convex lens is,

1f=1v-1u, and formula for magnification, m=vu.

For real image,

u1-ve, v1+ve1f=1v-1u1f=1v1+1u1u1f=u1v1+1u1f=1m+1   ...Eq1

Similarly, for virtual image case, we can write

u2-ve, v2-ve1f=1v-1u1f=-1v2+1u2u2f=-u2v2+1u2f=1-2m+1-u2f=12m-1   ...Eq2

From both equations, we can write

u1-u2f=1m+1+12m-1u1-u2f=32mf=2u1-u2m3
