As the magnet oscillates about its mean position performing SHM, the magnetic flux of the coil changes and emf is induced in it. So, the galvanometer shows deflection to the left and right for both in and out motion. But due to eddy currents, the velocity of magnet decreases So, the amplitude of deflection also decreases steadily.
