Thyroid hormones
Thyroid gland synthesize two hormones: thyroxine (T4) and tri iodothyronine (T3) under the influence of TSH (Thyroid Stimulating hormone). Thyroid hormones regulate Basal metabolic rate. These hormones also support the process of red blood cell formation. Thyroid hormones control the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins and fats and maintain water and electrolyte balance. Abnormal high levels of hormone leads to a condition called hyperthyroidism which affects the body physiology.
