Question: Answered & Verified by Expert
A particle of mass $m$ and charge $Q$ moving with a speed $v$ in a circular path of radius $R$ has magnetic moment $\mu$. If the mass of the particle is doubled and maintains the same speed while revolving in the same circular path, then the magnetic moment will be

The correct answer is: unchanged
Magnetic moment associated with moving charge on circular path is given as,
$\mu=\frac{Q v R}{2} \Rightarrow \mu \propto Q v R$
Clearly $\mu$ doesn't depend on mass of charged particle and also if $v=$ unchanged then $\mu=$ uncharged.
