The correct answer is:
$2 \mathrm{~m} / \mathrm{sec}$ in original direction

$\begin{aligned}
& v_1=\left(\frac{m_1-m_2}{m_1+m_2}\right) u_1+\frac{2 m_2 u_2}{m_1+m_2} \\
& \text { Substituting } m_2=0, v_1=-u_1+2 u_2 \\
& \Rightarrow v_1=-6+2(4)=2 m / s
\end{aligned}$
i.e the lighter particle will move in original direction with the speed of $2 \mathrm{~m} / \mathrm{s}$.
