Ground state binding energy =13.6× z 2 eV

⇒    z = 122.4 13.6 = 3

The first excitation energy

Δ E = 13.6 × z 2 × 1 - 1 4 eV = 91.8 eV

K .E max =125122.4=2.6eV

Hence, 90eV electron cannot excite it.
