Microbes have been used for various welfare activities and also in production of various chemicals in industries. Certain examples of chemicals produced with the help of microbes are organic acids, alcohols, and certain enzymes. One such enzyme called Streptokinase is produced by Streptococcus bacteria and is genetically modified. This enzyme is used for dissolving the blood clots which have blocked the vessels of the patient leading to myocardial infarction.
