The DNA in the nucleus
DNA is considered the blue print of an organism. If the DNA is altered, it will alter the organism's characteristic. Also, DNA contains genes which are responsible for synthesis of proteins. Thus, altering/modifying the DNA can result in transcription or no transcription for the particular protein. In this case, the scientist needs to modify the DNA using genetic engineering to disable protein synthesis.
