When the attraction forces between the two components of a solution are greater than that between the components themselves, the obtained solution exhibit negative deviation from Raoult's law. In case of solution of chloroform and acetone, the forces of attraction between chloroform and acetone is greater than that exists between the molecules of chloroform or between the molecules of acetone, thus this solution shows negative deviation.
