A sphere of mass m moving with velocity v collides head-on with another sphere of the same mass at rest. If the coefficient of restitution e=12, then what is the ratio of final velocity of the second sphere to the initial velocity of the first sphere?

The correct answer is: 0.75

mv+0=mv1+mv2

v1+v2=v ....(i)

e=v2v1v0

ev=v2v1 ..(ii)

Add equation (i) & equation (ii)

ev+v=2v2

v2=v(e+1)2

v2v=e+12=0.75
