Equus quagga quagga is a subspecies of plains zebra that lived in South Africa. It had brown and white stripes mainly in the front part of the body. The rear part of the body did not have stripes, so it looked like a horse. They were extensively hunted for their meat and skin and the wild species died in 1883.
