The pollen grain is generally spherical measuring about 25-50 micrometre in diameter. In 60% of angiosperms, pollen grains are shed at 2 celled stages, the smaller cell is generative cell and the larger cell is a vegetative cell. In remaining 40% of angiosperms, generative cell divides to form 2 male gametes, thus pollen grains are liberated at 3 celled stage.
