$\mathrm{XY}_{8}$
The unit cell of the above pattern will consist of 8 white square and 1 black square i.e. it will form centre unit cell.
$\therefore$ No. of white square $\mathrm{Y}=8$
No. of black square $X=1$
$\therefore$ Formula $\mathbf{X Y}_{\mathbf{8}}$
$\therefore$ No. of white square $\mathrm{Y}=8$
No. of black square $X=1$
$\therefore$ Formula $\mathbf{X Y}_{\mathbf{8}}$
