According to the question, without option (d) other methods are used in preparation of alkanes. 

Option (a) belong to reduction of alkyne, due to this alkene is formed and further reduction of alkene, alkane is formed (Sebatier and senderens reaction). 

The given reaction in option (b) is known as kolbe's electrolytic method. During this reaction butane is formed. 

The given reaction in option (c) is the example of wurtz reaction, This reaction is taken place between alkyl halide and metallic sodium in the presence of dry ether.
