If an external opposite potential is applied on the galvanic cell and increased slowly. It is observed that the reaction continues to take place till the opposing voltage reaches the value $1.1 \mathrm{~V}$. At this stage, no current flow through the cell. Any further increase in the external potential restarts the reaction but in the opposite direction. Hence, now the cell will behave like an electrolytic cell.
