Enzyme catalyses a reaction by lowering down the activation energy of the reaction so that the reaction can occur at normal cellular condition. Activation energy is lowered by using binding energy which is released when substrate binds to active site of enzyme to form ES complex. Thus ES complex formation is very much necessary for enzyme catalysed reaction to occur.
