Ex-situ conservation is the approach where threatened animal and plant species are taken out of their natural habitats and conserved in a special setting, where they can be given special care. Seed bank is an example of ex-situ conservation, where seeds of different genetic traits of several commercial plants can be preserved for a long period of time. National parks, wildlife sanctuaries and sacred groves are examples of in-situ conservation.
