The correct answer is: heat is absorbed by gas if volume increases
Specific heat of an ideal gas for process PVx= constant is,

C=Rγ-1-Rx-1

C=R153-1-11.25-1<0

If heat is given to gas then temperature decreases and hence internal energy also decreases.

Also, PV1.25= constant

PV=constantV0.25

nRT=constantV0.25

Upon increase in pressure, volume decreases and Temperature increases.

If volume increases then temperature decreases and heat is absorbed by the gas.
