$2 \mathrm{~N}$ corresponds to diploid chromosomes where as $2 \mathrm{C}$ corresponds to diploid.
(i) Number of chromosomes doubles after mitotic cell division and becomes half after meiotic cell division.
(ii) During $\mathrm{S}$ phase the DNA content doubles, but number of chromosomes remains the same.
