When diploid cell of nucellus divides to form diploid embryo sac which contains diploid egg cell from which embryo develops without fertilization or gametic fusion than it is called apospory. This mechanism of seed formation without gametic fusion or fertilization is called apomixis. It is commonly present in members of Asteraceae and grasses.
