On adding ammonia in aqueous solution of Ni2+ containing [Ni(H2O)6]2+ a new complex is formed as follows
[Ni(H2O)6]2+sp3d2Hyb.μeff=2.8BM+6NH3[Ni(NH3)6]2+sp3d2Hyb.μeff=2.8BM+6H2O
As there is no change in hybridisation and number of unpaired electrons so magnetic moment remains same.
