The root is covered at the apex by thimble like structure called as root cap, a few millimeter above root cap is zone of meristem in which cell repeatedly divides. Proximal to this zone is zone of elongation which undergo rapid elongation and enlargement. The region of elongation gradually differentiates and mature. Unicellular root hair develops and proximal to this is region of maturation.
