Diseases or infections which are transmitted through sexual intercourse are called sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). AIDS and hepatitis-B are sexually transmitted diseases. Hepatitis-B and AIDS can also be transmitted by sharing of contaminated syringes, surgical instruments with infected persons, transfusion of blood, etc. There is no permanent cure for AIDS and hepatitis-B.
