Let hydrocarbon is CxHy

10x=40 ; x=4 and 10x+y4=55
x+y4=5510
x+y4=5.5
Put the value of x
4+y4=5.5
y4=5.5-4
y4=1.5 then y=6
Hence hydrocarbon is C4H6
