In a lifespan, the organism has to grow and develop which is considered as the juvenile phase, before it undergoes senescence followed by death, the organism mature sexually and enter into the reproductive phase.
Since, the entire life cycle of perrenial plant is more than 2 years while an annual plant has to complete its life cycle in one growing season, its juvenile phase is shorter than that of a perennial plant.
