Reduction division occurs in fruiting bodies and forms conidia
Ascomycetes reproduced asexually and sexually. Asexual reproduction gives spores called conidia which are produced exogenously on conidiophores and germinate to give mycelium. Sexual reproduction ascospores which are produced endogenously in asci and asci are arranged in the fruiting body called ascocarps.
