Sun is not the source of energy in deep sea hydro-thermal ecosystem. Ecosystems need energy continuously to synthesize molecules to counteract the tendency of disorderliness. Thus, they follow the second law of thermodynamics. Plants only use 2%–10% of the photosynthetically active radiation which itself is less than 50% of the total incident solar radiation.
