An intrinsic (pure) semiconductor, also known as an undoped semiconductor, is a pure semiconductor without any significant dopant species present. The number of charge carriers is therefore determined by the properties of the material itself. So the conductivity is only due to the electron-hole pairs which are created by breaking of covalent bonds.
