Coconut fruit (stone fruit) is a drupe. A drupe develops from the monocarpellary superior ovary and is one-seeded. It is an indehiscent fruit in which an outer fleshy part exocarp (or skin) and mesocarp (or flesh) surround a single shell pyrene of hardened endocarp with a seed endocarp.
