Options:
  • A If the slope of one line is negative of the slope of another line, then h=0
  • B If the two lines are parallel then 2fgh+af=0
  • C If the two lines intersect at origin then g=f=0 and h2=ab

The correct answer is: If the slope of one line is negative of the slope of another line, then h=0

Given pair of lines is

ax2+2hxy+by2+2gx+2fy+c=0  ...i

For option (1), If the slope of one line is negative of the other.

Let the lines represented by i are

lx+my+n1=0  &  lx-my+n2=0

 ax2+2hxy+by2+2gx+2fy+c=lx+my+n1lx-my+n2

Comparing the coefficient, we get

l2=a, -m2=b, lm-lm=2h,

 ln2+ln1=2g,  mn2-mn1=2f,  c=n1n2

h=0

Hence, option (1) is correct.

For option 2

As, we know that if two lines are parallel then

ah=hb=gf

 af=gh so, 2fgh+af=0 if f=0

So, option (2) is wrong

For option 3,

Let the two lines intersecting at origin be l1x+m1y=0  &  l2x+m2y=0

 ax2+2hxy+by2+2gx+2fy+c=l1x+m1yl2x+m2y

Comparing, we get

g=f=c=0

 Option 3 is also wrong.

For option 4,

X-coordinate of intersecting pair of lines in i is given by bg-hfh2-ab

If bg-hfh2-ab>0 then either bg-hf>0  &  h2-ab>0 or bg-hf<0  &  h2-ab<0

 Option 4 is also wrong.
