Given that the amount of heat given to a system be dQ = 50 J and work done on the system be dW = -15 J

Here, dQ=50 J, dW=-15 J
from the first law of thermodynamics,dQ=dU+dW 1

 the change in internal energy of the system is
dU=dQ-dW=50--15=65 J
