The correct answer is: – 2 and 2
We have, fx=x+1x,x0
On differentiating w.r.t.x, we get
f'(x)=1-1x2f"(x)=
For maxima or minima, we put f'x=0
1-1x2=0
x2-1=0x=-1,1
Now, since f'x>0,x-1-h,-1 and f'x<0,x-1,-1+h

x=-1 is point of local maxima.
and local maxima value is f-1=-1+1-1=-2
and f'x<0 when x1-h,1
and fx>0 when x1,1+h
x=1 Is point of minima.
and local minima value, f1=1+11=2
