Current through R 4 (as well as R 3 ) is i 1 = V R = 5 500 = 10 mA Potential drop across 400 Ω is V 400 = 18 - 10 × 10 - 3 × 600 = 12 V Current through battery, I = 12 400 = 30 mA ∴ Current through R 2 , i 2 = 30 - 10 = 20 mA ∴ R 2 = 6 20 × 10 - 3 = 300 Ω
