If the volume of the block is V=100 then change in volume V=0.12, therefore, VV=0.12100

Also, for volumetric expansion of the block, VV=γT where γ is the coefficient of volumetric expansion.

0.12100=γ20γ=0.06×10-3 °C-1

The relation between coefficient of volumetric expansion and coefficient of linear expansion is, γ=3α

α=γ3=0.06×10-3 °C-13α=2×10-5 °C-1
