The correct answer is: -2 (z-coordinate of P)

Given,

x-coordinate of a point P on the line joining the points Q2,2,1 and R5,2,-2 is 4,

Now let assume that point P is dividing the point Q & R in ratio of λ:1,

So by section formula we get,

4=2+λ×5λ+1

4λ+1=2+λ×5λ=2

Now finding the y coordinate of point P we get,

y=2+2λλ+1y=63=2 .........1

Now finding the z coordinate of point P we get,

z=1+λ-2λ+1=1-42+1=-33=-1 ...........2

Now we can see that from equation 1 & 2 we get,

y-coordinate =-2 (z coordinate of P)
