Cell division and cell differentiation occurs through embryogenesis. Cell division occurs through increase in the number of cells in the developing embryo, while cell differentiation takes part in the modifications of group of cells to form specialised tissues and organs to form an organism.
If cell differentiation does not occur in embryogenesis, the embryo cannot develop into a new organism. It will only remain as a mass of cells.
