Maize is a monocot plant from the Angiosperm division. Maize uses wind as agent for the pollination process. It does not need an elaborative flower with colourful petals and nector. Also, maize plant produces unisexual flowers that is male and female flowers are separate. Maize shows tassel form of inflorescence where the flowers form cluster. The female flowers give out long feathery silky hair like structures which form the style and stigma of the flower. This structure help in capturing pollen for fertilization. These are also visible on the maize comb after fertilization
