For dominant trait and for recessive traits lower case of the same gene are used (alleles). Experiment proves that it is a monohybrid cross which shows $3: 1$ ratio in $\mathrm{F}_2$-generation. Upper case letters are used as symbols.
This shows parents must be true-breeds. As parents are diploid and homologous chromosomes that carry alleles with similar type, which are represented by $R R$ and rr.
