Annual ring consists of two concentric light and dark colour ring, which are formed due unequal activity of cambium in different season. In spring season the cambium is more active producing more amount of secondary xylem with wider lumen which is light in colour, in autumn season cambium is less active and produces less amount of xylem with narrow lumen and which is dark in colour.
